When I’m not blogging … it might be because I’m in a reading slump

It’s weird, winter is usually when I get more reading done, because it’s cold and I don’t want to go outside and do other things.

This year, though, I seem to be slowing down instead. I haven’t finished reading a book – or, really, spent much time reading – in about two weeks. That’s craziness! I usually read at least 2-3 books a week, if not more.

I just don’t seem to be getting anything done lately; it’s cold and snowy here in Toronto, and dark already by the time I head home from the gym (which is usually only around 5pm). And then I already feel like it’s time to go to bed! Or, at least, to just sit in front of the television … something I don’t normally do this much.

For the past two weeks, I’ve been in the middle of reading two different books. I haven’t even started listening to a new audiobook – instead, I’ve just been listening to music on my walks to and from work and other places, and I’ve actually been watching television at the gym! This is not like me at all.

Is anybody else feeling like this, too? This winter seems to be hitting me harder than usual.

  1. Awww. I’m going through a blogging slump right now instead of a reading one. I’m reading a lot right now but haven’t really reviewed anything in weeks. Do you think anything triggered your slump? I hope it gets better.

  2. I have been feeling like this for months and I’ve barely read anything in what seems like forever. It’s really sad but I just can’t seem to force myself into it.

I find myself watching more TV, moping about, flicking through books but rarely feeling like I’m glued. Even books I’d normally have whizzed through I just can’t be bothered any more.

Partly to do with my overall mood, which has not been good lately I admit – but now I think I’m just out of the circuit and finding it hard to get back in. My brain’s turned to fudge.

  3. Certain days I just feel like hibernating. I’m also on a reading-slump, but it’s because both the book and audiobook I’m reading now are loooong.

To pick up the rhythm, I always find that very short, very light reads are always good.
