The Huge TBR Read-A-Thon: Kick-Off!

June 14, 2010

From Monday to Sunday of this week, Kirsten over at Bookworming in the 21st Century is hosting The Huge TBR Readathon, in which a bunch of us crazy bloggers try to make a dent in our ginormous to-be-read piles.

This is definitely a chance for me to have a crack at my TBR pile, and will be a great pre-primer to the Summer Slimdown challenge that I’m hosting here starting June 29th.

I didn’t get to start this one until right about now, due to an unexpected trip to the doctor today after waking up and realizing that I couldn’t open my eyes for more than a few seconds at a time. Turns out that I might be allergic to something in the cleaner that we used in my apartment when we were cleaning on Saturday, or at least to the large quantities of it that were used on my bedroom floor. I’m right as rain now, though, with the help of some serious anti-histamines, and about to start reading another chunk of Wolf Hall.

These are the books that I’m hoping to finish this week:

  1. Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel
  2. The Wars by Timothy Findley
  3. The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
  4. Wikinomics: How Mass Collaboration Changes Everything by Don Tapscott and Anthony D. Williams
  5. The Lacuna by Barbara Kingsolver

I can hope, anyways.

Are you in on the challenge? What’re you planning to read this week?

I hope you like The Book Thief. It was a splendid read for me! 🙂

Oooh, I’ve read about The Lacuna in the newspapers yesterday. I really want to read that too.

I’m also in this readathon! I’m now reading I Capture the Castle by Dodie Smith.

Ahhhh I’m so disappointed that I have plans and company ALL WEEKEND! This challenge would have been perfect!

Great list! I still need to finish The Familiars and then maybe I will start on Spy Glass by Maria V. Snyder. I’m starting off slower in the readathon than I planned on. Think my brain is still recovering from Bloggiesta!

    Enjoy your books!
