The only reason I read this book is because my book club was going to be talking about it in September. It had never really been on my radar, though apparently it’s quite popular and was even made into a movie (which watched with a couple friends after the night we talked about it at book club). And let me tell you – I will never get back the time I wasted reading it.
I loved this book so much, but I’ve hard a hard coming up with a way to write about it.
I have to admit to being mildly disappointed by this book.
Maybe it was because I had built up El Saadawi’s writing so much in my head from hearing her speak and reading articles of hers, but it just wasn’t quite as good as I had thought it would be.
This book was an interesting, and at times frustrating, read.
