To be honest, I felt a little bit let down by this novella.
Of all the things that I’ve read about in the novels, Marmee Noir is probably the worst of the villains. I really, really don’t like her. And, to be honest, I’m not a big fan of the weretigers, either – though not in a they’re-the-bad-guys kind of way. I simply don’t like how they seem to be taking over the story.
Ugh. I had hoped that Marmee Noir was gone and done for in Skin Trade, but apparently not. She’s like the villain who never dies.
When I started to read this novella, it seemed like it was going to be a light and fluffy exposition piece on a day in the life of Anita’, Micah’, and Nathaniel’s relationship. I soon realized, though, that this wasn’t the case.
While we’ve been waiting for the Vittorio storyline to return, this wasn’t quite what I expected. Everything is all mixed up with weretigers and Marmee Noir, and it seemed at times like the plot was more complicated than necessary.
