24 Hour Read-A-Thon: Ready, Set, Go!
thoughts / April 10, 2010

I set my alarm for 7:00am, giving me time to shut it off a few times and then wake up, have some food, and start reading. Of course, I apparently shut the alarm right off at some point and went back to sleep. But I’m awake now! Only an hour late, that’s not too bad. Now that I’m awake, I’m settled on the futon couch in the living room to start with, and I’m having the breakfast of champions: Pirate cookies. Reading, ahoy! I’m starting out with Too Much Happiness (Alice Munro), since I didn’t quite finish it last night. It’s the pick for my reading club next weekend. Hour 1 Mini-Challenge: Where are you reading from today? Mostly from my apartment, either sitting on my futon couch in the living room, or on my bed in my room (once my roommate and boyfriend wake up and if they decide to watch tv or something) … and a few hours at a friend’s house during games night. 3 facts about me … I am sitting here in Christmas flannel pyjama pants and a red Canada sweatshirt that I got for Christmas a few years ago from my parents, right after…

Mission #1: Blog Hop Welcome to anyone coming from the Book Blogger Hop going on at Crazy For Books! This week’s twist is listing what country you come from. Click here to enter your link and view the entire list of entered links… Mission #2: Prepare for the 24 Hour Read-A-Thon Have I mentioned yet that I’m going to be doing the 24 Hour Read-A-Thon? It starts at 8am local Toronto time and runs for the full 24 hours after that, though I’m not sure I’ll make it for quite the entire thing. The only “for sure” commitment I have is to be at games night on Saturday, but other than that, it’s simply up to how much sleep my body screams for! Tonight, I’ll be cooking food and preparing some snacks, including making brownies for a friend’s engagement party on Sunday (since I know I won’t have time to do it tomorrow unless I’m procrastinating from reading!). I’ve also come up with a pile of books to start with for the read-a-thon, mostly (but not completely) short YA fiction: The Book Thief by Markus Zusak November Blues by Sharon Draper The Lit Report by Sarah Harvey Fasting, Feasting by…

Musing Monday: Read-A-Thon
memes , musing monday / April 5, 2010

Musing Mondays is a weekly meme hosted by Just One More Page. Today’s Musing Mondays post is about the upcoming readathon. Are you planning on participating in the upcoming readathon? Why not tell us a little about your plans: reading solo or with a partner/group? How long to do plan to read? Do you have your books chosen? If not reading, do you plan to be a cheerleader? The floor is yours. I’ve been toying with the idea of doing the Read-A-Thon for a few weeks, and I’ve decided … to do it! I won’t be doing it for the full 24 hours, since I have games night at a friend’s house on Saturday evening. But I’ll definitely be participating in general. I’m trying to spend more time relaxing at home with a book instead of doing other things, so this is a perfect opportunity.
