The Testament of Jessie Lamb (Review)

I first picked up this book because I found the premise interesting. A virus that kills pregnant women? Definitely up my alley. What I didn’t understand, though, was that the virus kills them as their pregnancy progresses, and that they can still get pregnant – there’s nothing stopping that from happening to begin with. For some reason, I had been under the impression that this meant that all currently pregnant women were dying, and that that would be the end of reproduction because no one would get pregnant after that, not because they would die from doing so.

I was always curious about homeschooling when I was younger, and now that I’m getting older and starting to think about the education options for my (future, theoretical) children, I find that it’s on the table again. This week, I took part in the 2nd annual Audiobook Week hosted by Jen at Devourer of Books. I had a fantastic time – especially since this year, I had quite a few audiobooks already completed that I still needed to review! I’m glad that I participated again this year – and hope to do so again, many times over! Congratulations to Jen for pulling off yet another fantastic event.

48 Hour Book Challenge: Finishing Line

Well, this weekend definitely did not contain as much reading as I had originally hoped, but that’s okay. I knew it would be a toughie. I started on Friday morning at 9am and technically continued until this morning at 9am. In reality, I didn’t really read all that much – only 8 hours of reading, plus about 2 hours of blogging, though I think I only get to count one hour of “social media” time. The only book that I finished was Chasing Lolita, which I finally decided to hunker down and get through. My weekend was intensely busy, though, so I’m okay with that. Next year hopefully I’ll have more time to devote to reading. As a side note, though, and a fantastic end to this weekend, I got my birthday gift from Zaid today! Here it is:
