Summer Break Reading Challenge: Activities 1-5

July 5, 2010

I am so very far behind on this, but I’m joining in on the Summer Break Reading Challenge hosted by Karin. I’m going to be doing it in conjunction with my own Summer Slimdown Challenge, which works out, since the Summer Slimdown really only covers books that were already in my possession when my summer break started.

Plus, this one has fun activities!

If you’re here from the Summer Break Reading Challenge, please feel free to look around my blog a bit. I won’t bite, I promise!

Now that I’m finally get into the groove here, I’ve decided to catch up on the activities that I’ve already missed. Here we go…

Activity 1: My Reading Goals for the Summer

I have a reading schedule set up for myself this summer, with lots of leeway to move things around. There are a few things that are my key points, though:

  1. I want to get through as many of my already-owned TBR books as I possibly can.
  2. I’m going to be posting daily reviews of Islam-related books for the month of Ramadan (August 11th – September 10th).

Really, I just want to spend more time reading. That sounds like a nice sweeping goal to me!

Activity 2: Wordle

I did this activity using an old post of mine from the classics circuit: Why should teenagers read classics?

Wordle: Why should students read classics?

Activity 3: Book Reviews

The point of this activity was to catch up on book reviews. I’m not actually behind, but I did finish a book last night, so I’m posting that review now. Here it is: review of Stephenie Meyer’s The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner.

Activity 4: Scavenger Hunt

I’m actually going to choose to skip this one. Move along!

Activity 5: Guess the Cover

I only knew 1 of the 10 covers, even though some more looked familiar to me. Oh, well. I don’t have the patience right now to go around looking for the rest. Now I’m really looking forward to the next activity, though!
