After posting about my TBR piles a couple weeks ago, being given a Kobo for my birthday from my boyfriend in order to contain book-related clutter, exchanging comments with Amy about going on a book-buying diet, and realizing that I have over 300 unread books currently in my house, I’ve decided that it’s definitely time to make a concerted effort to read the books that I’ve accumulated and never gotten around to. And I thought to myself … maybe some of you would like to join in!
That led to the decision to start my very first challenge – the Summer Slimdown!
From the day after school ends until the day before it begins again in September, I’m committing myself to reading almost entirely from my bookshelves in an effort to put a halt to TBR pile weight gain and even shed some pounds. I’m not putting myself on an official “book ban”, because I know that won’t work for me, but I am going to be trying to limit new acquisitions. In the end, all that matters is that my TBR list is shorter than it was at the beginning of the challenge!
I’m inviting you all to join me in this endeavour. Take a chunk out of your TBR shelves! Catch up on review books! Attack those classics that you bought but never got around to!
There’s only one rule – for a book to be counted for the Slimdown, it has to have been on your shelf already on June 28th.
You can make yourself a list (or not) and join right in! Sign ups are open now, and will continue throughout the challenge. It’s never too late to join in.
