In My Mailbox

August 29, 2010

In My Mailbox is a weekly meme hosted by The Story Siren and inspired by Pop Culture Junkie.

Every week (or skipping some, depending on how frequently new books enter my life!), I’ll be posting on Sundays about what books I got, from all sources – bought, borrowed, exchanged, etc.

Purchased from Book Depository:

Review copies from HarperCollins:

Review copies from Tundra Books:

ARC copy passed on from Marcia of The Printed Page:

From the Books Read ‘Round the World event, courtesy of Carly of Writing from the Tub:

I should note here that the cover on the first one is different from what Amazon is showing (*sad face*), and that it’s going to be passed onto the next person once I’m done reading it. The Kaysen one, though, I get to keep! (*giant grin*)

I was looking at the Scott Pilgrim books for the library 😀
    Great book week. Happy reading

I actually like the cover with the take out box better on Lost on Planet China. I did order it from and that’s what they sent me in the mail. Is everyone writing their name and country in the book? There’s a Book Crossing # in it if you want to update it (not required though). 🙂

That is very cool that Carly sent you Girl Interrupted.

Also, you’ll have to let me know how you like the Scott Pilgrim books. A friend of mine was just complaining about them tonight but most everyone else I know seemed to enjoy them.

Complaining about the books or the movie?

Yup, there are names in it. 🙂

The books. Apparently, she found Scott Pilgrim to be unlikeable because of the reason he is with his current girlfriend I think. I don’t know how much you’ve read so I don’t want to give spoilers. I will say that I generally don’t agree with her on books either because she hates a few authors that I really like. I’m definitely interested to see someone else’s take on the books because of this.

The HarperCollins books look interesting. I love the covers. The last one about our decisions sounds good.

A great pile of books in your mailbox! I was tempted by the v books but thought they might be a little dry. Let me know what your first impression is! (I got a different book from HarperPerennial: Everything is Going to be Great by Rachel Shukert).

    • Leeswammes (Judith) September 1, 2010 at 4:20 am

That should read: I was tempted by the 3 philosophy books from HarperPerennial. Anyway, let me know what you think of them (first impression)!

      • Carina September 1, 2010 at 4:26 am

I knew what you meant! 😉

I like the cover for Lucy Unstrung.
    Enjoy your books!

Those are some amazing books! The Lucy Unstrung looks intriguing- I can’t wait for the review 🙂 Have a great week.

I really like the sound of it! It’s on the top of my non-Ramadan-related reading pile right now.

  • Amy August 30, 2010 at 10:45 am

Some great books here! I got the 3 Simon Van Booy books too – I’m so looking forward to them 🙂

    • Carina September 1, 2010 at 3:58 am

Ooo, yay! They’re not usually my thing, but they caught my attention so hopefully I’ll enjoy them.

Oh you lucky duck! I so want to read the Scott Pilgrim books, and so do my kids! I think I am going to take them to see the movie next weekend. It looks like a lot of fun! Enjoy all the new arrivals!

    • Carina September 1, 2010 at 3:57 am

I’ve got all but #3 now – the Book Depository cancelled it from my order!!! I’ve gotta get a bit ahead in my Ramadan-related reading so that I can dive into them, since they’re for my book club meeting in a couple weeks.
