The #1 New York Times bestselling Sookie Stackhouse novels by Charlaine Harris spawned a hit TV show and captivated fans around the world — including other authors. Now this group of writers, specifically chosen by Charlaine, pays tribute to “the southern, mind-reading belle who gets mixed up in the world of vampires and magical creatures” (The Kansas City Star) with a collection of fifteen all-new stories about your favorite residents of Bon Temps.

Even though I felt as though The Southern Vampire Mysteries series went kind of downhill near the end, I really enjoyed the stories in Harris’ series overall. So I was excited to read more stories from the world she had created, even if they were written by other people.

I enjoyed some of the stories more than others. For example, there was a story set in the future where Eric meets (and protects) some of Sookie’s descendants. He was both reminiscing about the past, thinking about what could have been different, and realizing the things that he could see in Sookie’s children that he missed about her. One of the other things the author focused on was how the vampires “adapt” to the changes in society over the years, which I found rather interesting.

There were other stories in the collection, some more serious and others more light-hearted, but each focusing on a different character or aspect of the series. If you’re a fan of Sookie or any of the other people in her universe, you might want to pick up this book. It’s a great extension to the series that extends their stories without messing around with any of the canon.
